The Ogham Alphabet
What are Ogham Birthstones?

Ogham Birthstones are Porcelain Pendants with an Ogham letter inscribed which corresponds to the appropriate birth date.

Pendants come in three “colours”,  White - where no colouring is used, Raw Earth - Iron Oxide is used to give a warm earthy colour and Glazed - different glazes are used including Celadons and the resulting colour is generally of a green hue and shiny but quite variable.  Use pointer to expand thumbnail image on the left to view typical image of packaged pendant.

The OGHAM ALPHABET was invented by OGMA, according to the Medieval (1391) Irish  Manuscript, The Book of Ballymote, and a group of twenty sacred trees gave names to the letters of this alphabet.

OGMA or OGMUS, as he was known in Gaul, now France, was described in the 2nd. Century by the Greek writer Lucian as the God of Eloquence and variously referred to as “honey tongued” and “eloquent”.
