The OGHAM ALPHABET was invented by OGMA, according to the Medieval (1391) Irish Manuscript,
The Book of Ballymote, and a group of twenty sacred trees gave names to the letters
of this alphabet.
OGMA or OGMUS, as he was known in Gaul, now France, was described in the 2nd. Century
by the Greek writer Lucian as the God of Eloquence and variously referred to as “honey
tongued” and “eloquent”.
